This shows you how desperate the Republican party is. Ditka as a Senator?
I guess any ole white man will do huh? Couldn't they have dig up a celebrtiy from Illinois. Harrison Ford (Chicago), Charlton Heston (Evanston), or maybe Ray Bradbury (Chicago) all of them are from Illinois. I'm not sure about their politics but they're just as famous as Mike Ditka.

The insulting aspect of Ditka's potential candidacy is not just that he is a white guy who was dug up out of obscurity to enter the race at the last minute, but that his credentials can't compare in anyway to Obama's...Obama has been practically groomed to become a statesman (who is also of the people), while Ditka is nothing more than a celebrity...I think it is a damned shame that folks in Illinois can't look beyond Obama's race to see that he may be the best Senatorial candidate running this year in any race...they ought to be GLAD to have someone of his calliber to represent them... ugh! when will folks WAKE UP?
